The Third Squad reports thearrests of two Queens men for Assault that occurred in East Garden City onWednesday, June 14, 2017 at 5:15 pm.
According to detectives,defendants Delroy Greaves, 20, of 89-35 208th Street, Queens andKevin Chavez, 20, of 21836 Spencer Avenue, Queens Village entered in to a NassauCounty N.I.C.E. bus at the Mineola bus terminal without paying. The 48 year oldmale driver continued on to his last stop which was the Roosevelt Field Mallbus terminal located at 630 Old Country Road and let all the passengers off. Asthe two defendants exited the bus they began yelling at the driver. DelroyGreaves also threw a can of beer at the driver. The driver fled by pushing pastthe defendants and entered into a nearby parked N.I.C.E. transport car. Thedefendants began kicking the front passenger door causing damage. As the victimexited out of his car to inspect his damage both defendants began punching thevictim to his head. Delroy Greaves was also carrying a skateboard used itto strike the victim to his head. Third Precinct Police were called and placedboth defendants into police custody after a brief struggle. The victim sufferedcontusions to his head along with a laceration to his lip. One police officersprained his right ankle. They were treated for their injuries at a local areahospital.
Delroy Greaves is chargedwith 3 counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Possession of a DangerousWeapon 4th Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2ndDegree, Resisting Arrest. Kevin Chavez is charged with Assault 2nd Degree,Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.Both men will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday,April 15, 2017.
