Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Long Beach man for an incident that occurred on Friday,June 16, 2017 at 4:30 am in E. Atlantic Beach.
According to detectives,Cesar Aponte-Villazan, 26, of 540 E. State Street, broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend on Mohawk Avenue causing damage to the front door as well as a front window. After gaining entry into the home Aponte-Villazan confronted his ex-girlfriend and proceeded to destroy additional property and structures about the house causing thousands of dollars in damage.
911 were contacted and upon police arrival officers attempted to place the defendant under arrest to which he resisted. During that time one officer sustained a dislocated elbow before the defendant was able to be placed into custody. During a search, the defendant was found to have a quantity of cocaine in his pocket.
The officer was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.
Aponte-Villazan is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 6/17/2017.
