The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Freeport man for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance on June 27, 2017 in Freeport.
According to Narcotics Vice Squad Detectives who assisted the Freeport Police Department and in conjunction with the Long Island Heroin Task Force an investigation was made into a fatal heroin overdose of a male victim in August 2016. The investigation led to the arrest of defendant Anthony Howard, 33, of Freeport. Defendant Howard did sell an amount of heroin to another for an agreed amount of US currency on several dates in May and June of 2017. Defendant Howard was placed under arrest on June 27, 2017 on Front Street in Freeport at 6:45 pm. Detectives recovered 29 grams heroin, an amount of cocaine, pills believed to be Tramadoland Watson, quinine and packaging materials.
Defendant Howard is beingcharged with 4 counts of Criminal Sale of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and 6 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at First District Court, 99 MainStreet, Hempstead.
