According to the Burglary Pattern Team detectives, after an investigation of several burglaries that occurred, detectives identified and arrested defendant Richard Ryan, 40, of 335 Evans Avenue, Elmont on May 4, 2016 at 2:40 pm after exiting the Goldis Pawn Shop in Hempstead. Detectives recovered a large quantity of proceeds at the home of the defendant which included computer lap tops, assorted jewelry and credit cards.
The following is a list of homes that were burglarized by the defendant:
March 31, 2016 - Geranium Avenue, Floral Park
April 25, 2016 - Hunnewell Avenue, Elmont
May 02, 2016 - Oakley Avenue, Elmont
May 04, 2016 - Evans Avenue, Elmont
The investigation also led to the arrest of defendant Sheila Rivera, 34, also of 335 Evans Avenue, Elmont who surrendered to the Nassau County Police Department on May 04, 2016 at 9:20 pm. On April 25, 2016 defendant Rivera used a stolen credit card (proceeds from the above) at a Valley Stream Walmart in an attempt to purchase merchandise.
Defendant Ryan is being charged with 6 counts of Burglary 2nd Degree. Defendant Rivera is being charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree. They will be arraigned on Thursday, May 05, 2016 at First District Court, Hempstead.
