The Seventh Squad reportsthe arrest of a Massapequa man for Assault on a Police Officer that occurred onSaturday, August 5, 2017 at 9:50 pm in Massapequa.
According to detectives,Seventh Precinct officers responded to McCann’s Bar and Grill – 5590 MerrickRoad for a disturbance. Upon arrival officers learned that a male subjectwho was denied entry into the bar because of his erratic behavior and who hadalso damaged a windshield wiper on a party bus parked across the street fromthe bar had left the scene. After a canvass of the area, officersobserved the subject walking on Clocks Boulevard and Ellen Street. Whenofficer’s attempted to question the individual, the subject began strugglingwith the officer and sergeant. The subject then produced apair of scissors and slashed the officers’ cheek and attempted to stab him inthe neck. The sergeant was bitten and sustained injury to her back, neck andshoulder after being thrown to the ground. The officer then deployed hisElectronic Control Device and was able to place defendant Robert Savage, 26, of762 Clocks Boulevard, under arrest. The officer and sergeant weretransported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Theywere treated and released. The defendant was also transported to a localhospital where he was admitted for an unrelated illness.
Defendant Savage is beingcharged with Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer, Criminal Possession of aWeapon 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest and 2 counts of Assault 2ndDegree. He will be arraigned as soon as medically practical.
