The Homicide Squad reportsthe details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurredon Friday, August 11, 2017 at 8:43 pm in Great Neck.
According to detectives, thedefendant, Christian Arevalo, 19, of 150 Manor Drive, Great Neck, was involvedin a dispute with a known 20 year old male victim. The dispute escalatedand became physical. Defendant Arevalo entered into his mother’s 2013 NissanAltima and drove from Manor Drive, Manhasset with the victim jumping on to themotor hood of the Nissan.
Arevalo continued to drivethe vehicle with the victim holding onto the motor hood. A short timelater, the defendant was involved in a vehicular accident with a 2017 CadillacSedan on Cumberland Avenue and then collided with a curb. The victim wasthrown off the motor hood and struck his head on to the pavement. Thevictim suffered head, neck, and spine injuries. The victim was transported by aNassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital and was pronounced deceasedby hospital staff at 12:39 am on August 12th. Further investigationrevealed the defendant was responsible for a Robbery that occurred on Monday,July 17, 2017 in Great Neck. He also violated a Court Order of Protection onTuesday, May 05, 2017 also in Great Neck.
DefendantChristian Arevalo is charged with Manslaughter 2nd degree, Robbery 2nddegree, Criminal Contempt 1st degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nddegree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at First District Court,Hempstead.
