The Second Squad reports the details of an Aided Case that occurred on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:49 pm in Hicksville.
According to detectives, police responded to a 911 call in the vicinity of Newbridge Road and James Street for a woman bitten by a dog. Upon police arrival, it was determined two (2) females walking, ages 45 and 62, were attacked by two (2) large dogs. While assisting the victims, officers observed the two dogs running around and then enter an open door on a Williams Street residence.
Police entered the house, heard yelling, screaming and found one of the dogs growling and barking at the occupants. The dog bit a male victim, 63, and began to aggressively approach a woman holding an eleven (11) month old child. The officer on scene stepped in front of the dog to protect the woman and child. The dog lunged towards the officer, who then discharged his firearm striking the dog and killing it.
The second dog was secured outside of the Williams Street residence and removed by animal control.
The three (3) victims, who suffered dog bites were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.
The owner of the dogs, Chiranjeev Roddey of 227 Sackett Street, Hicksville, was issued two (2) Appearance Tickets (Unlicensed Dog and Failure to Control Dog).
