The Third Squad reports thearrest of a Bay Shore man for Attempted Murder that occurred on Thursday,August 31, 2017 at 6:30 pm in Hempstead.
According to detectives, thefemale victim, 32, went to 19 W. Columbia Street to discuss financialassistance for her child, 14, with her ex-boyfriend’s mother. Uponarrival, the victim was confronted by her ex-boyfriend, Kenny Cruz, who beganto argue with the victim. Cruz punched the victim in the face multipletimes, threw her to the ground and began to kick her. Cruz grabbed astapler and struck the victim on top of her head several times causing deep lacerationsand exposing her skull. Cruz continued to kick the victim in the facebefore grabbing a pair of scissors and stabbing her three times causing deeplacerations. The victim attempted to call 911 from her cellular phone,however, Cruz forcibly took the phone and prevented her from calling forhelp. The victim was able to run out of the building and drive her carhome. She was then transported to an area hospital by her mother.
The victim suffered three(3) stab wounds, a collapsed lung and multiple lacerations.
During the incident, Cruz’smother attempted to prevent the assault. Cruz threatened his mother withscissors.
On Sunday, September 3, 2017at 5:15 pm Kenny Cruz, 30, of 1032 Union Blvd. was placed under arrest for theabove crimes. Defendant Cruz is being charged with Murder 2nd degree(Attempt), two (2) counts of Robbery 1st degree, Assault 1stdegree, Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rddegree, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st degree, two (2) counts of Menacing2nd degree and Criminal Mischief 4th degree. Hewill be arraigned on Monday, September 4, 2017 at First District Court,Hempstead.
