The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an unidentified man for Attempted Murder that occurred on Monday, September 04, 2017 at 12:57 am in North Long Beach.
According to detectives, patrol officers responded to 80 Waterfront Blvd. for a 911 call regarding a suspicious person making threats. While canvassing the neighborhood, an officer located a person matching the description of the suspicious person in the vicinity of Long Beach Blvd. and E. Fulton Street. The officer verbally engaged the male and began to investigate. The subject became combative, grabbed the officer’s gun and holster. A struggle for the firearm ensued. A second officer arrived at the scene and assisted in the physical altercation that was in progress. The subject was subdued and placed under arrest.
The first officer on scene suffered an injury to his hand and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The defendant is being charged with Murder 1st degree (Attempt), Robbery 2nd degree (Attempt), Assault 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree. He will be arraigned Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
