The First Squad reports thearrest of an East Meadow man for Criminal Sale of a Police Uniform thatoccurred Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:43 pm in Bellmore.
According to detectives,First Precinct patrol officers responded to a complaint for a man sellingpolice shields at the Bellmore Flea Market located at 2700 Pettit Avenue. Responding officers located a table displaying numerous replica police shieldsfrom various police agencies. Also on display were police patches, a jacket,and various Fire Department Medical Service uniforms were also showcased.
A subsequent investigationrevealed Howard Kaminowitz, 67, of 2403 Cadillac Drive was attempting to sellthe items on display and sold an undisclosed amount of police badges. Hewas arrested without incident.
Defendant Kaminowitz ischarged with Criminal Sale of a Police Uniform. He was issued anappearance ticket for September 25, 2017.
