Baldwin, NY – Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder, retired New York Police Department Police Officer Sean Acosta and Nassau Police Benevolent Association President Police Officer James McDermott will join the United States Marines in the official kick off for the Toys for Tots program on Long Island on Friday, October 19th at 12:00 pm at the Coral House in Baldwin. Hundreds of disadvantaged children will be attending the ceremony. There will also be more than 500 civic, business, community and elected officials in attendance to kick off this year’s official annual toy drive to benefit thousands of needy family and children. Local precincts will be collecting toys with the assistance of the Nassau Police Benevolent Association.
The United States Marines Toys for Tots program is the nation’s largest holiday gift program for children. Toys from communities across Nassau and Suffolk counties are collected by individuals and businesses and then distributed by the members of the armed services to local underprivileged children.
