The Fifth Squad reports thearrest of a West Hempstead man for Burglary that occurred in West Hempstead.
According to detectives, onSeptember 29, 2017 a male subject entered a Maren Street, West Hempstead homeremoved a set of car keys and took a 2004 GMC Envoy that was parked in thedriveway. The subject struck a parked vehicle as he was backing out ofthe driveway; exited the truck and fled the scene on foot.
On October 12, 2017 a malesubject entered the same residence on Maren Street stole the keys to the same2004 GMC Envoy; backed it out of the driveway and stuck a vehicle parked acrossthe street. The subject exited the truck and fled the scene onfoot.
On October 26, 2017 at 6:50pm, Fifth Precinct Officers responded to a call for a larceny from anautomobile on Lenox Drive, Lakeview. The victim stated that a male subjectentered his F150 truck and removed keys to his GMC Envoy, a key fob and severalcredit cards in the victim’s name. The same subject entered the victim’s 2004GMC Envoy and took a Macys’ credit card, a Citibank debit card and personalpapers. At 7:13 pm a call was received for a male subject who had entered aNissan Pathfinder parked on Oakford Street, West Hempstead and stolen apocketbook containing US currency, several credit cards and two Nissan keyfobs. Officers searched the area and located a subject on Woodfield Road andLaurel Court. After an investigation, defendant Juziah Douglas, 16, of375 Oakford Street, was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest, theabove mentioned credit cards, truck keys, two Nissan key fobs and a gravityknife were found in the possession of the defendant. It was discovered thatdefendant Douglas was also responsible for the September 29th andOctober 12th burglaries.
Defendant Douglas is beingcharged with 4 counts of Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rdDegree, 2 counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, 2 counts ofUnauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of aWeapon 4th Degree, Criminal Trespass, Possession of Burglary Tools,3 counts of Leaving the Scene of an Incident and Unlicensed Operator. Hewill be arraigned on Friday, October 27, 2017 at First District Court,Hempstead.
