Major Case Bureau detectivesfrom the Robbery Squad are investigating three separate attempted robberies andone robbery that occurred on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 beginning at 8:38 pm.
According to detectives, amale white subject entered Burger King, 501 Old Country Road, Plainview,displayed a handgun to a store employee and demanded money from the register.The victim ducked behind the counter and the subject fled the restaurant intothe parking lot without any proceeds.
At 8:55 pm, a male white subject entered Uncle Pete’s Gyro & Pizza, 27 Woodbury Road, Hicksville,and demanded cash from the register. The owner, who observed that the subject had a handgun in his waistband, picked up a stapler from the counter and threatened to throw it at the subject who then fled the restaurant without any proceeds.
At 9:05 pm, a male whitesubject entered Dunkin Donuts, 333 Jericho Turnpike, Syosset, displayed ahandgun to an employee and demanded cash from the register. After being toldthat the register needed a key to open it, the subject became enraged, pushed theregister to the floor, took a tip jar from the counter and fled the store.
At 9:25 pm, a male whitesubject, while in the parking lot of Trader Joe’s, 425 South Oyster Bay Road,Plainview, approached a 69 year old female, displayed a handgun and demandedher purse. The victim refused and the subject then fled through the parking lotwithout any proceeds.
Detectives believe that theabove incidents were committed by the same subject who was further described asbeing in his early 20’s, 5’7” – 5’10” tall with a thin build. He was wearing ablack hooded sweatshirt, black hat, blue jeans and white sneakers.
