The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Freeport man for a Robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 3:30 am.
According to detectives, defendant Michael Ebinger, 31, of 128 Guy Lombardo Avenue requested to be driven by the Taxi Latino Co. of Hempstead to a TD bank ATM machine located at 252 Peninsula Boulevard, Hempstead so he could pay to be driven from Uniondale to Rockville Centre. While at the ATM machine a verbal argument ensued with the 49 year old male driver over the fare cost. Michael Ebinger then stabbed the victim with a knife into his right bicep and left hand causing lacerations. Defendant Ebinger then fled on foot on Peninsula Boulevard. The victim was able to follow Ebinger and alert First Precinct Police Officers who were conducting a car stop in the vicinity of Peninsula Blvd and Greenwich Street. The First Precinct Police officers were then able to place Michael Ebinger into police custody without further incident. The Victim was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
Defendant Michael Ebinger is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and Theft of Services. He will be arraigned on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in First District Court in Hempstead.
