According to Detectives, defendant Isiah Peters, 18, of 1246 Sterling Place Brooklyn and defendant Leon E. Thomas, 19, of 265 Hawthorne Street Brooklyn accompanied by a five year old family member entered the Applebee’s located at 1126 Green Acres Road at approximately 7:50pm and ordered and consumed approximately fifty dollars’ worth of food. The defendants attempted to pay the bill with credit cards that were declined, so they left the restaurant without paying. At approximately 9:44pm the defendants returned to the restaurant, Police were notified and responded to place the defendants under arrest for Theft of Services. Both defendants began to violently resist arrest by fighting with officers. During the struggle a Police Officer sustained a sprained right thumb and was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injury. While in the Precinct, defendant Peters again violently struggled with Officers as they attempted to secure him in the holding cell. Upon search incident to arrest both defendants had in their possession forged credit cards. The minor child was released to a family member.
Defendant Leon E. Thomas is charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument, Theft of Services, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and Resisting Arrest. Defendant Isiah Peters is charged with Assault 2nd, six counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument, Theft of Services, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and Resisting Arrest. Defendants Thomas and Peters will be arraigned on Friday, April 29, 2016 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
