First Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for attempted murder which occurred in Freeport on Friday, 03/18/16 at 12:06 P.M.
According to detectives, Larry Williams, 56, of 71 Stevens St., Freeport, while in the rear of 73 South Main St., was involved in a verbal altercation with a male victim, 57, pulled out his handgun and fired two shots at the victim. The victim was able to avoid being struck by the gunshots and ran into the building. Shortly thereafter, Freeport detectives located the defendant, who was a passenger in a vehicle, on Powell St./Colonial Ave. in Freeport. The driver of the vehicle, who is also the defendant’s brother, Robert Williams, 54, (same address) was found to be in possession of Heroin as was Larry Williams. As a result of a search of the defendants home, two handguns were recovered, one of which was stolen.
Larry Williams is being charged with Murder 2nd Degree (Attempt), Criminal Use Firearm 1st Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession Stolen Property 4th Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Robert Williams is being charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th Degree and two VTL infractions, Fail to Stop at Intersection Stop Sign and Improper Turn/Fail to Signal. Larry Williams will be arraigned on Saturday, 03/19/16 and Robert Williams was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket returnable on Monday, 04/11/16, both in First District Court, Hempstead.
