The Fourth Squad Detectives are investigating a serious auto accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:58 p.m. in North Long Beach.
According to detectives, while attempting to cross Austin Blvd, a female pedestrian, 40, was struck by a 2009 Toyota RAV4 traveling northbound in the right lane. The male driver, 47, stopped and rendered aide to the victim. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian suffered a fractured skull, internal bleeding and a broken femur and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The victim is currently in a coma and listed in critical condition. A vehicle safety inspection was conducted at scene. Investigation is ongoing.
