According to detectives, on March 26, 2016 security for TD Bank located at 110 Hillside Avenue informed bank teller Raquel Benjamin, 28, of 221-11 146th Avenue that they would be conducting an audit and she was not to receive any customers. Prior to the audit Benjamin requested another teller to sell her $4,000.00 in large bills and placed the money in her draw without paying the other teller. While conducting the audit bank security questioned Benjamin about the purchase of the large bills at which time she denied the transaction. After conducting an internal investigation security contacted Nassau County Crimes Against Property detectives. A subsequent investigation determined Benjamin had removed $4,000.00 on March 25, 2016 from her bank draw for her own personal use. Detectives placed Benjamin under arrest on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her residence.
Benjamin is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree. She will be arraigned on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
