According to police, two officers assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) conducted a traffic stop of a 2001 Nissan Altima on Collector Lane. The officers observed the rear passenger, Steven Scheufler, 24 of 61-20 156th Street, Flushing attempting to conceal numerous glassine envelopes containing heroin into his pants. During the investigation officers discovered over 100 decks of heroin in the vehicle, along with 6 pills identified as Zolpidem. Scheufler was placed under arrest along with the driver, Mandy Kougianos 28, and her brother Nikolas Kougianos, 25 both of 61 Cheshire Road, Bethpage.
Scheufler is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, and four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance 7th degree.
Mandy and Nikolas Kougianos are both charged with three counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree.
All three were arraigned on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
