The Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of an Elmhurst man for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance which occurred on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. in Franklin Square.
According to detectives, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team officers were on patrol, when they observed a 2017 Honda parked on the corner of Langdon Street and Scherer Blvd. While investigating the man’s conduct, the driver was seen ducking down in his seat attempting to avoid them. After being asked for identification, the subject reached into the center console where officers observed a gravity knife.
The defendant, Daniel Gonzalez, 29, of 8610 Grand Avenue, Elmhurst, was placed under arrest and an inventory of the vehicle was conducted. Officers recovered a scale with a white powdery substance, plastic bags, a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance, a second gravity knife and a handgun. A plastic bag containing a white powdery substance was also found in the pants pocket of the defendant.
Defendant Gonzalez is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree and 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead.
