
The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for a Grand Larceny that occurred at 10:04 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, defendant Muzaffer Aktas, 49, of 778 Park Avenue while working as an attendant at a gas station located in Hempstead, did break open two cash boxes and removed the cash deposits without permission to do so. The defendant then took the undetermined amount of US currency and fled the scene. The owner was notified of the incident and believing the defendant would attempt to leave the country with the proceeds, drove to JFK International Airport and sought the assistance of the Port Authority Police Department. While in connection with the Nassau County Police Department, the Port Authority Police Department located the defendant and placed him under arrest without incident. The defendant was transported back to Nassau County with the recovered proceeds.
Defendant Muzaffer Aktas is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Monday February 19, 2018 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
