The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of an individual on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 11:10 pm in Freeport.
According to Detectives, at 10:50 pm Freeport Police Officers responded to the rear parking lot of 178 Pine Street for a call regarding youths in the area. As Officers responded they observed four youths including the defendant David Serrant, 19, of 1658 Brooklyn Avenue 1st floor Flatbush, NY. The defendant walked away, jumped a fence and began to run. As Officers began to follow, the defendant turned and fired one round from a .40 caliber semi- automatic handgun at an Officer.
The defendant then fired a second shot at two other Officers that were approaching from a different direction. Finally, the defendant fired a third shot at a fourth Officer that approached from a third direction. At that time, the fourth Officer fired back at the defendant. The defendant continued to run but was apprehended in possession of the handgun by K-9 Officer Mathew Pinelli and his partner K-9 Seren at 209 Pine Street. No injuries were reported.
Defendant David Serrant is charged with two counts of Murder 1st Degree (Attempt), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Menacing a Police Officer. He will be arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.

The defendant did not fire a third shot at the fourth Officer, he raised his weapon and pointed it at the Officer; Menacing a Police Officer.
