The Fifth Squad detectivesare investigating a Serious Aided Case that occurred on Thursday, March 8, 2018at 11:55 am in Elmont.
According to detectives, afemale victim, 37, was carrying her male infant, 2.5 months, in an infantseat. The mother knocked on the door of the residence located on 117thAvenue. A female occupant, 57, opened the door and two (2) Pitt bullmixes ran out of residence. One of the dogs attacked the mother and bither leg. The same dog bit the infant on the face and head, causing deeplaceration to the mouth and left cheek, as well as puncture wounds.
During the attack, a male,41, was working in the vicinity and came to the aide of the victims. Hepulled the dog away for the victims and placed the mother and infant in a vehiclefor safety.
Both the mother and infantwere transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to an area hospital fortreatment.
The investigation isongoing.
