The Homicide Squad is investigating a serious motor vehicle accident involving two autos which occurred on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 10:14 P.M. in Baldwin.
According to detectives, a Nissan sedan with three occupants was stopped at a red traffic signal on Grand Avenue at Milburn Ave. The vehicle was then struck in the rear by a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by subject Roy Gomez, 39, of 26 Archer Rd, West Hempstead. The subject, Gomez then fled the scene in his auto only to park a few blocks away and flee on foot. At approximately 3:30 A.M., subsequent to a police investigation, defendant Gomez was located sleeping in a boat on Wood cleft Avenue, Free port and arrested without further incident. All three occupants from the Nissan were transported to area hospitals. A 65 year old male passenger sustained serious injuries, the female driver and a back seat male passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Defendant Gomez is chargedwith Assault 2nd, Vehicular Assault 2nd, DWI, Leaving theScene of an Accident, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd. He willbe arraigned on March 14, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main Street,Hempstead.
