Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Westbury man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 4:55 pm in Mineola.
According to detectives, Anthony Scott, 37, of 21 Parkwood Road, after double parking and exiting his car on Jericho Turnpike near the intersection of Mineola Boulevard, became involved in a verbal argument with another motorist, his passenger and third individual over a parking space. After a brief physical altercation, the victims began walking back towards the sidewalk when Scott, who had already entered his car, put it in drive and intentionally struck two of the victims causing one to fall off the hood, strike the pavement and have her legs run over by his vehicle. The other victim, who held onto a windshield wiper, was eventually ejected from the hood and struck the ground causing him to suffer a head and neck injury. Scott then continued on and fled the scene westbound on Jericho Turnpike.
Both victims, a 52 year old female and a 38 year old male, were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Scott’s license plate number was obtained during the incident and officers, after gaining this information, responded to his home and placed him under arrest without further incident. During his arrest Scott was found to be in possession of various controlled substances including, THC, Alprazolam and Oxycodone.
Scott is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, four (4) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and two (2) counts of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Auto Accident. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 3/19/2018.
