Major Case Bureau report twoarrests from an incident that occurred on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 9:10P.M.in New Cassel.
According to Gang Unitdetectives, a 23 year old male was walking to a friend’s house on CarletonStreet. As he arrived and approached the front door, he was pushed into thehouse, through the door by defendant Patrick Spruill, 28 of 165 Swalm Street,New Cassel. The defendant, while now in the house, displays a handgun andorders the victim and a 25 year old male resident to lie on the floor and emptytheir pockets. The 23 year old victim then removes a knife from his jacket andattempts to ward off the defendant. While doing so, the victim is shot twice,once on each arm. The victim is then able to run from the residence. RespondingOfficers while conducting an investigation recovered a firearm, narcotics andMarijuana from the premise. The resident, Wesley Garcia, 25, of 26 CarletonStreet is arrested. The defendant Spruill was located and arrested at NassauUniversity Medical Center, where he was seeking treatment for stab and slashwounds to his face and body. The 23 year old victim is being treated fornon-life threatening injuries at an area hospital.
Defendant Spruill is chargedwith Attempted Murder 2nd, Burglary 1st, CriminalPossession of a Weapon 2nd, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1stand a Disorderly Conduct warrant. He will be arraigned when medicallypractical.
Defendant Garcia is chargedwith Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a ControlledSubstance 1st and Criminal Possession of Marijuana 3rd.he will be arraigned on March 26, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead.
