The Public Information Office reports the details of an Aided case that occurred at 3:46pm on Friday, April 20, 2018 in Hewlett.
According to Police, the male victim, 64, was the passenger in a vehicle and experienced a medical emergency. The driver of the vehicle stopped and summoned help from the Officers inside the Fourth Precinct Stationhouse located at 1699 Broadway. Police Officer Anthony Albanese and Sergeant James Crawford evaluated the victim, discovered he was in cardiac arrest and had the departments Automated External Defibrillator retrieved. After they administered a single shock, the aided regained a pulse and began breathing on his own. The aided was transferred to the care of Nassau County Police Medics Geoffrey Goodwin and Paul Silva. As the aided was transported to the hospital, they continued to evaluate the aided including measuring his decreased carbon dioxide values. They ventilated the patient which in turn increased his values indicating sufficient respiratory levels causing him to become conscious and alert in the emergency room. He was admitted for further evaluation.
