The First Squad reports the arrest of a New York man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 12:36 am in Uniondale.
According to detectives, officers assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team observed a 2003 Nissan traveling northbound on Nassau Road. The vehicle failed to maintain a lane and officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Stop.
During the investigation, the defendant, sitting in the front passenger seat, became uncooperative and struggled with police. During the struggle, the subject’s jacket came off and a handgun fell to the ground. The subject fled the scene on foot.
Sonny Gorham, 34, of 200 W. 131st Street, New York, N.Y., was arrested a short time later in the vicinity of Pine Street and Brookside Avenue.
The operator of the vehicle, female, 26, was issued three (3) tickets for violating New York State’s Vehicle and Traffic Laws.
Defendant Gorham is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He was arraigned Saturday, April 21, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
