Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder announce that the NCPD will host its Annual Open House from May 16th through May 18th, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Annual Open House will celebrate the 93rd Anniversary of the Nassau County Police Department. It will take place in the parking lot behind Nassau County Police Headquarters, located at 1490 Franklin Avenue in Mineola.
The exposition is designed to educate, inform, and involve citizens of Nassau County to create a spirit of cooperation among police officers and the communities they serve.
Open House attractions will include demonstrations by the Arson/Bomb Squad and the Emergency Services Unit. The Bureau of Special Operations will demonstrate how they rappel from a building. There will also be demonstrations by the Department’s Canine and
Mounted Units.
Exhibits will include the Police Department’s Mobile Command Bus, Bureau of Special Operations Tactical Response Vehicle, along with other assorted tactical equipment. Also featured are Highway Patrol Bureau, Motorcycle Platoon, Marine Bureau, Aviation Unit, Crime Scene Search Section, Police Academy, Emergency Ambulance Bureau and a visit to the Detention Cell area of Records Bureau.
Other activities include the Police Museum, KID-PIX Photo Identification Program, Children’s Safety Town, and a “radar” ball toss for children.
School trips are welcome and no reservations are required. Buses are to discharge students at the 14th Street entrance of Police Headquarters.
