Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder will hold a solemn memorial ceremony for all deceased members of the Department tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Nassau County Police Memorial located on the front lawn of Police Headquarters, 1490 Franklin Avenue, Mineola.
Floral tributes will be placed at the memorial honoring deceased members. An unveiling and dedication of new bronze plaques honoring Lieutenant Michael Shea and Police Officer Brian Abbondandelo, who both recently passed away from their 9/11 related illnesses, will also take place.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, all thirty-eight (38) Nassau County Police Officers who have made the Supreme Sacrifice will be honored with the reading of their names.
The Police Pipe Band and Color Guard will participate along with other dignitaries.
Media is invited to attend.
There will be a staging area designated for all media.
