The Highway Patrol Bureau reports the arrest of a Farmingdale man for an incident that occurred on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 12:28 am in Roslyn.
According to officers, while on the westbound Long Island Expressway, in the vicinity of exit 40, a Highway Patrol Officer observed a white BMW being operated at high rate of speed. After attempting to initiate a vehicle stop, the driver, Wymann Wiggins, 28, of 150Secatogue Avenue, #7E, refused to pull over and continued driving. Wiggins then exited the expressway at exit 37 and turned right onto Mineola Avenue. After failing to negotiate a turn in the road at Walbridge Lane, Wiggins left the roadway and struck the Roslyn Veterinarian Clinic at 1 Mineola Avenue causing significant damage to the building. As a result of the accident, Wiggins and his front seat passenger, a 29 year old female, were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their non-life threatening injuries.
Defendant Wiggins is charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer 3rd Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will be arraigned as soon as medically practical.
