The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Bronx man for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:58 p.m. in Franklin Square.
According to detectives, John Rufino, 55, of 1950 Haight Avenue, Bronx, New York, was observed driving into oncoming traffic on Nassau Boulevard while operating a 2012 Ford Focus. Officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop and detected a strong odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle.
Upon further investigation officers observed and recovered marihuana, a plastic bag and a pen cap containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, along with filmstrips labeled Suboxone. The subject was placed under arrest without further incident.
John Rufino is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, two (2)counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree,Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and Failed to Use Designated Lane of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in First District Court, Hempstead.
