The First Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property that occurred on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. in Roosevelt.
According to detectives,police officers attempted to make a VTL stop on Lakeside Drive. During the course of the stop, officers discovered the vehicle, a 2003 Honda minivan, was reported stolen from Port Washington on July 7, 2018. The driver of the vehicle, William Manuella, 26, of 38 Jericho Tpke., refused to pull over to police, committing multiple VTL infractions and causing damage to property in the process. The defendant then crashed into a bush on Mirin Avenue and fled on foot. After a struggle with officers, Manuella was taken into custody.
The defendant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
William Manuella is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving and multiple VTL violations. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
