The Second Precinct reports the arrest of a Westbury man on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:15pm in Farmingdale.
According to Police, an Officer on routine patrol observed a tan colored Jeep with a South Dakota registration plate fail to maintain a single lane of traffic while traveling eastbound on Fulton Street. The Officer conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Fulton Street and Heisser Lane. The investigation revealed that the registration plate did not match the vehicle; the driver could not produce a license, proof of registration or a valid insurance card. Subsequent to the investigation the driver provided the Officer with a false name and had a Nassau County Bench Warrant dated from September 2017.
Defendant Sammy L. Merchant, 25, of 170 Hopper Street Westbury is charged with False Personation, Bail Jumping and multiple VTL violations. He will be arraigned on Wednesday August 1, 2018 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
