
Second Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for Robbery which occurred on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2:30 a.m. in Farmingdale.
According to detectives, on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11:00 p.m. the defendant Ricardo Esquerette, 25, of 95 Cherry Street in Farmingdale, confronted victim 1, a male, 21, on the corner of Hudson Street and Staples Street. The defendant took the victims cellphone as he attempted to call 911 and fled the scene on foot. Both parties are known to each other.
On Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2:30 a.m. the defendant went to victim 1’s residence and was attempting to confront the victim once again. The defendant, after being asked to leave the property attempted to force his way into the home. Victim 2, a female, 56, was blocking his entrance and attempting to call 911 when the defendant punched, kicked and wrestled with her to gain control of the phone and break it. Victim 3, a female, 21, and victim 4, a male, 28, then stepped outside to help when the defendant pulled a switchblade knife from his pants pocket and threatened to kill all 3 victim’s at the scene. The defendant once again fled on foot.
On Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 1:45 p.m. detectives were able to locate the defendant at 10 Birch Street East in Farmingdale. While attempting to place the defendant into custody the defendant began to kick and punch the detectives but caused no injuries. Defendant was placed under arrest and while being transported began to spit on officers.
Ricardo Esquerette is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, three (3) counts of Menacing 2nd Degree, Attempted Burglary, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Petit Larceny and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Sunday August 26, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead.
