First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for Robbery that occurred on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:41 am in Uniondale.
According to detectives, patrol officers responded to an unknown problem in the vicinity of 511 Jerusalem Avenue. Upon arrival, a witness informed officers an elderly man with a cane was struck in the face and knocked to the floor by an unknown male. While the male victim, 70, was on the ground, the subject removed an unknown amount of U.S. currency from the victim’s pocket and took his cane. The witness attempted to intervene on the victim’s behalf when the subject ran at him with the cane. The witness stepped back and called 911.
The victim suffered a skull fracture, trauma to the brain and was transported by a Nassau County Ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
Officers located the subject who refused to comply with verbal commands. Timmell Pearson, 30, of 51 Teresa Place attempted to strike an officer with the cane. Pearson was subdued and placed under arrest.
Defendant Pearson is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree Menacing 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical at First District Court, Hempstead.
