
The First Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin woman for Making A Punishable False Written Statement that occurred on September 14, 2018 at 6:33 p.m. in Baldwin.
According to detectives, defendant Adwoa Lewis, 19, of 1053 Jackson St., provided a written statement to detectives that she was driving home on September 2, 2018 at 11:15 p.m. when she was confronted by four teenagers. According to her statement, the teenagers yelled “Trump 2016!” and stated that she didn’t belong here. She further claimed she parked her car in front of her house and when she woke up, she found a slashed tire and a note on her car that stated “Go Home.”
Extensive investigation revealed that the story had been fabricated by the defendant and that no such altercation had taken place. When questioned about discrepancies in her story, the defendant admitted that she had been the one to write the note and place it on her car. She was taken into custody without incident.
Defendant Lewis is charged with Making a False Punishable Written Statement and was released on an Appearance Ticket. She is due to appear in First District Court on Monday, September 24, 2018.
