The First Squad reports the Arrest of a Roosevelt man for Assault that occurred on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 8:35 p.m. in Roosevelt.
According to detectives, police conducted a VTL stop northbound on Lincoln Avenue for failure to signal a turn. During the stop, Defendant Lamin Dawo, 30, of 172 Lincoln Ave., became very agitated and aggressive with officers. Dawo was asked to exit the vehicle, at which time narcotics fell out of his pocket. The defendant then tried to flee the scene on foot. Officers attempted to place the defendant under arrest at which time he began to repeatedly strike an officer and attempted to grab the officer’s weapon. Lamin Dawo was then taken into custody.
The officer suffered injuries to his back, neck and knee and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Lamin Dawo is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree (Attempt), Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Unlicensed Operating of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and multiple VTL violations. He will be arraigned on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
