
The First Squad reports the arrest of two Brooklyn men for Robbery that occurred in Baldwin on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 12:55 pm.
According to detectives, defendant Subhan Shah, 20, of 514 East 8th Street arranged to meet a 28 year old male victim on Millburn Avenue in the vicinity of Ocean Avenue. The victim agreed to meet the defendant so he could sell him sneakers he advertised on social media. The victim exited his parked auto and handed over the sneakers so defendant Shah could inspect them. At that time defendant Zain Sajjad Khawaja, 24, of 591 Coney Island Avenue was observed walking up, wearing a red bandana covering his face and attempted to punch the victim in his face. Defendant Shah then motioned he had a gun in his waistband and grabbed the sneakers. Both defendants then fled on foot south on Milburn Avenue with the proceeds and were observed entering into a 2012 Camaro that left west on Ocean Avenue. The victim then called 911.
A short time later First Precinct police observed the car in violation of New York State Vehicular Traffic Laws and performed a car stop in the vicinity of Grand Avenue and Wallace Avenue. An investigation revealed that the two occupants of the vehicle were responsible for the robbery and place them into police custody. The sneakers were recovered. No weapons were recovered. There were no injuries reported.
Defendant Zain Sajjad Khawaja is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, and Various NYS Vehicle Violations. Defendant Subhan Shah is charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Robbery Second Degree. Both men were arraigned on Friday, October 12, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead.
