Second Squad Detectives report the arrest of 2 males for an incident that occurred on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. in Plainview.
According to detectives, 2nd precinct officers observed an 11 year old female standing alone, soliciting candy and cookies in front of Starbucks on S. Oyster Bay Road. It was apparent to the officers that the juvenile was not properly dressed for the decreasing temperatures. The juvenile informed the officers that she was dropped off along with several other juveniles by 2 males in a van. All juveniles believed they were selling candy and cookies for New York Youth Club. An investigation was conducted. A total of 8 juveniles were located in the area. Several complained of being cold and unable to get in contact with the 2 chaperones that had dropped them off. Officers were able to locate the van and placed the 2 male occupants into custody without incident. All juveniles were released to the custody of their family members.
Defendant Kavon Thompson, 19, of 139-36 248th Street, Rosedale is charged with 8 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Defendant Jamainne Hall, 24, of 341 Hempstead Gardens Drive, West Hempstead is charged with 8 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both defendants will be arraigned on Monday, October 15, 2018 in First District Court, Hempstead.
