According to Detectives, the Freeport Police Department received a call to check on the wellbeing of an individual who was possibly in need of assistance. Officers responded to a residence at 230 Rutland Road and subsequent to the investigation the subject exited his home at approximately 9:58pm and walked himself into a County Ambulance. Both the subject and the homeowner gave officers written consent to search the premise. The results yielded a loaded Ruger handgun, two loaded magazines with ten rounds each, a box of ammunition, in excess of 10lbs of a substance believed to be marijuana and growing supplies consisting of lamps, filtration supplies and plants also believed to be marijuana. The subject was arrested without incident at 10:10pm and was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center where he was deemed fit.
Defendant Keston Mayers, 30, of 230 Rutland Road is charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
