
Third Squad detectives report the arrests of two men for an incident that occurred on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 4:50 pm in Hempstead.
According to detectives, Bureau of Special Operations officers, who were patrolling the Hempstead area, observed Tylib Chapman, 36, of 603 Liberty Park Drive, Freeport, exit his vehicle on Clinton Avenue in the vicinity of Vancott Avenue and urinate on a telephone pole. After returning to his car, Darnell Moore, 30, of 20 Martin Luther King Drive, Apt. C, Hempstead, approached Chapman’s vehicle, became engaged in a conversation and raised his shirt to expose the handle of a gun that was in his waistband. He then entered the vehicle and both men drove off. The car was subsequently stopped by officers on Vancott Avenue and Washington Avenue where both men were placed into custody. Recovered from Moore’s waistband was a 9mm handgun and a plastic bag containing crack cocaine.
Moore is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/20/2018.
Chapman is charged with Exposure of a Person, was released on an Appearance Ticket and is due back in First District Court, Hempstead on 11/27/2018.
