Fifth Squad detectives, along with Major Case Bureau detectives of the Burglary Pattern Team, report the arrest of a Valley Stream man for incidents that occurred in Nassau County.
According to detectives, Donald Smith, 53, of 202 Emerson Place, 2FL, Valley Stream, after a subsequent investigation by detective’s review of video surveillance and DNA evidence, was identified as the person responsible for the following burglaries as well as a larceny from a vehicle.
9/14/2018 - Restaurante Y Pupuseria Eugeni, 606 Woodfield Road, Lakeview at 5:00 am. Cash box and cash removed.
9/22/2018 – China King Restaurant, 248 N. Central Avenue, Valley Stream at 6:05 am. Cash register and cash removed.
10/16/2018 – B & K Beverages, 55 E. Merrick Road, Valley Stream at 12:55 am. Cash register and cash removed.
10/19/2018 - Meat & Grocery Market, 20A Meacham Avenue, Elmont at 2:50 am. Cash register, cash, credit card reader and checks removed.
10/2/2018 – 7 Eleven parking lot, 190 N. Central Avenue, Valley Stream at 7:10 am. Purse containing cash, credit cards and electronic devices removed.
Smith was located on 10/19/2018 at 9:57 pm on Greenwich Street in Hempstead where he was placed under arrest.
Smith is charged with four (4) counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and Grand Larceny 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/20/2018.
