The Nassau County PoliceDepartment reports the arrest of a Freeport man for an incident that occurredon Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:55 p.m. in Elmont.
According to police,officers on patrol observed a 2009 red Nissan Altima make a right turn from aleft turn only lane and head eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike. Officersinitiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. During the investigation, the driver,Jabori Gibson, 27, of 117 Casino Street, fled the scene southbound on TerraceAvenue. While fleeing from the officers the defendant entered a dead end streetand turned around. As he now headed northbound on Terrace Avenue he struck aparked vehicle and a police officer’s vehicle, causing front end damage to allthree vehicles. The defendant then headed eastbound on Hempstead Turnpikebefore striking a utility pole and coming to a stop against a stone wall. Thedefendant then fled on foot and after a brief search was located in a yard onMeacham Avenue. The defendant was placed into custody without further incident.There were no injuries reported.
Defendant Jabori Gibson ischarged with Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of RecklessEndangerment 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer 3rdDegree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree and multiple VTLViolations. He also had an open warrant from the NYS Department of Correctionsand Community Supervision. He will be arraigned at First District Court inHempstead on a later date.
