The First Squad reports an arrest for Robbery on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:18 A.M. in Freeport.
According to detectives, Matthew F. Metz, 19, of 73 Van Buren Street, Freeport, entered CVS, located at 403 Atlantic Avenue armed with a silver pellet gun. He was wearing a ski mask, hooded sweatshirt and gloves. After placing a pack of gum on the counter he demanded money from the male cashier, 19 years of age. The victim complied and the defendant fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.
Freeport patrol officers observed the defendant riding a bicycle eastbound on Atlantic Avenue at South Long beach Road. The defendant was placed under arrest two blocks east at Miller Avenue. After a brief struggle the defendant was placed under arrest. One officer suffered an injury to his hand.
An investigation revealed the defendant was responsible for two Robberies on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
Metz is charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd degree, Robbery 1st degree (Attempt) and Assault 2nd degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, December 18, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
