The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of three Far Rockaway men for Grand Larceny that occurred on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:07 p.m. in Hewlett.
According to Detectives, Shawn V. Boogaertswhite, 51 of 2507 Beach Channel Drive, Andrew Strowder, Jr, 55 of 2017 Cornaga Avenue, and Joseph Foster, 29 of 2504 Beach Channel Drive were observed by a PSEG employee placing coil copper wiring into a 1999 Ford Econoline van parked inside the gated substation located at 1157 West Broadway in Hewlett. As the van left the location the employee notified 911 and a description of the vehicle was transmitted to Fourth Precinct patrol officers. Responding officers observed the vehicle travelling on W. Broadway in Woodmere and they conducted a vehicle and traffic stop. The officers placed the defendants under arrest without incident. A subsequent investigation determined that on four prior occasions beginning in October 2015 the defendants had entered the same substation and removed additional copper wiring from trucks at the location. The total loss is in excess of $8000.00.
Foster is charged with two counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief 4th degree and two counts of Criminal Trespass.
Boogaertswhite is charged with three counts of Grand Larceny 4th degree, two counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief 4th degree, four counts of Criminal Trespass 3rd degree and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
Strowder is charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 4th degree, two counts of Petit larceny, Criminal Mischief 4th degree and 3 counts of Criminal Trespass 3rd degree.
All three were arraigned on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at First District Court.
