According to detectives, a male victim, 15, posted an I-phone for sale on multiple online sites. Defendant Peter Libardi, 17, of 18 East Lyons Street contacted the victim to meet at Field of Dreams located on Old Sunrise Highway. Libardi examined the phone and had victim walk with him to get money. As they walked down a nearby street, Libardi showed the victim a black handgun in his waistband and fled with the I-Phone. While being chased by the victim, Libardi turns and fires multiple shots at the victim. The defendant ran back to Field of Dreams was seen entering a Black 2015 Lincoln Navigator that fled eastbound on Old Sunrise Highway. Responding officers from the Seventh Precinct located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Broadway in Amityville. Both Libardi and the 14 year old juvenile were placed under arrest without incident.
No injuries were reported.
Libardi and the Juvenile are charged with Robbery 1st degree and Robbery 2nd Degree, Libardi is additional charged with Menacing 2nd degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
