First Squad Detectives report the details of an arrest for Attempted Murder which occurred on Saturday, February 2nd at 10:53 P.M. in Baldwin.
According to Detectives, a female victim, 24, of Baldwin arrived to speak to one of the residents of a house on Kings Parkway, Baldwin. Female Victim began to walk back towards her vehicle when she heard a window open. When she turned around she observed Defendant Michael Atamian, 19, of Massapequa, climbing out of a second floor window and stepping onto the roof. He then pointed a hand gun directly at her, causing the victim to fear for her life and run towards her vehicle. Defendant Atamian fired three shots directly at the victim, missing all three times, thus striking the vehicle behind her.
Victim entered her vehicle, fled the scene and called 911. Victim gave arriving officers a description of a Grey Honda Civic with no license plates that Michael Atamian may have fled in. Victim had no injuries.
A short time later a Fifth Precinct officer heard the notification of the incident and description of the vehicle and defendant. The Officer simultaneously with hearing the notification, already had the vehicle and defendant pulled over for having no license plates on his vehicle at the intersection of Hempstead Tpke and Spruce St, in West Hempstead.
As Fifth Precinct Officers approached the vehicle, they saw that one of the rear passengers, Louis Castillo, 27, of Massapequa had a silver handgun in his waistband.
Officers ordered Castillo to step out of the vehicle, at which point he refused and Officers were forced to deploy an Electrical Control Device to control Louis Castillo as he continued to struggle and resist officers as they attempted to place him under arrest.
Defendant Trent Austin, the operator of the vehicle was charged with Hindering Prosecution 3rd Degree.
Defendant Michael Atamian, is charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal use of a Firearm 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.
Defendant Louis Castillo, is charged with Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree.
All three defendants will be arraigned on Monday, February 4, 2019 at First District Court, Hempstead.
