According to detectives, on December 03, 2015 at 12:00 pm a 46 year old female victim entered into her 2000 Mercedes Benz parked in the lot of The Bank of America located at 20 Jerusalem Avenue after withdrawing $ 7000.00 US dollars. After driving a short time the victim pulled over and inspected a flat rear tire in the vicinity of 124 Duffy Avenue. As the victim searched her trunk for tools an unknown male Hispanic approached her and asked if she needed assistance. The female victim after denying the male Hispanic request then noticed her pocketbook had been removed from the front seat of her car that contained her cash withdrawal, New York Driver’s license, 3 ATM cards, and a credit card. The victim called for police assistance.
After an investigation by Second Squad detectives and having viewed surveillance video it was determined that a male subject did take the victim’s pocketbook and cause damage to her rear wheel while parked in the lot of the Bank of America on December 3, 2015.
On January 20, 2016 the defendant was identified through an inter-agency investigation with the NYPD Organized Theft Unit.
He is identified as Alexander Sanchez, 35, of 3456 73rd Street, Apt 4g, Jackson heights.
On January 21, 2016 the defendant was placed into police custody by Nassau County Second Squad detectives at Queens Central Booking after post arraignment on unrelated Queens County charges.
The Defendant Alexander Sanchez is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Friday ,January 22, 2016 at First District Court.
