
Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Queens man for a Robbery that occurred on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 1:50 a.m. in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, patrol officers were responding to a call for a robbery in the vicinity of Merrick Road and Arlington Avenue. The male suspect approached two male victims and demanded cash. When the victim’s refused, the suspect reached towards his waistband, simulating that he had a weapon. The victim’s called 911 and the suspect fled scene in a black Toyota 4Runner. A description of the suspect and the vehicle used during the robbery was given to the officers. As the officers were heading to the scene they observed a vehicle fitting the description and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Stop.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Lawrence Smith Jr, 46, of 13449 231 Street, Laurelton, was arrested without further incident.
The Defendant, Lawrence Smith Jr, is being charged with two (2) counts of Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Menacing 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
